Forest Estate Olive Grove
Forest Estate Olive Grove was established in 1998 by the late rugby legend Stan Gorton and his wife Kate. The property has since been taken over by Tony Lambdon and Danielle Gordon together with a growing menagerie of animals.
Having spent several years involved in development work both nationally and internationally, we decided it was time to step out and develop a place where we could create a self-sustainable lifestyle.
The olive grove is set on a 20 acre block of sandy loam soil approx 30 km from Millmerran, just off the Gore Highway. The arid climate on the west of the Darling Downs provides ideal growing conditions to produce premium quality olives from which the all Forest Estate oil is produced.
The olive grove utilises solar power and rain water tanks, as well as a poly tunnel, large vegetable garden, worm farm and compost bins.
We have a small flock of Dorper Sheep that assist in keeping the grass down, eating the olive tree prunings and fertilising as they go.
In partnership with Preston Peak Wineries and Sutton Park Juices a range of fine wines and cider is offered at the cellar door so visitors can come along for tasting whilst looking out over the rows of olives growing in the sunshine.
